I did quite a bit of research before selecting a finish for the log siding. I used the Autumn Aspen Capture and followed with Cascade top coat. I've had it on for about 10 years in Northern AZ (7500' elevation - lots of snow).

Overall I'm very happy. The areas that are almost always shaded have been refinished once. The areas that receive a lot of sun have been refinished three times. Most products don't protect the end grain of the wood from turning black but I applied a lot of capture to the end grain of the beams and they've never turned black.

There are parts of the cabin that the snow drifts up against that are a little black. I don't know of any product that protects against the snow.

Joe Rocket Superstock Men's Leather Sports Bike Motorcycle Gloves - Black/White / Medium Review

I was looking for a more protective glove than my current mesh gloves. These gloves are quite protective for short gloves. My fingers must tend to be a bit shorter, because other brands of gloves were much to long. However, these gloves fit like, well, a glove.

Quality is very good. However, please note that the stitching is on the inside of the gloves. It doesn't pose a problem unless the glove are very tight on you. I normally wear a medium, but ordered a small and although they fit, they hurt after riding awhile. Once I moved up to the medium, everything was fine.

Also, these gloves are full leather, so even though they're not insulated, they are good for spring and fall weather too. They're not too hot for summer (80-90 degrees F), and they're still warm enough down to around 40-45 degrees F.
