We got this cot for my husband who is a burly guy -- 6'2", 260 lbs and very broad shoulders. He appreciated the extra width -- we traded cots for a couple of nights due to space issues, and the standard cot was definitely too narrow. We went on a 6-week motorcycle trip and used these about 1/2 the time. They were almost too bulky to bring, but we were glad we had them. The cots were a big luxury for us, and ensured a good nights sleep, which is far more important on a long trip than a short trip.

They seem reasonably durable, and yes, they do get easier to assemble after they've been used a few times.
